John Okot is a freelance journalist. He is passionate about investigative and innovative journalism, focusing on health, human rights, environment and humanitarian reporting. He has also won a few awards, including Gender sensitive reporting and Water, Sanitation and Health award (WASH investigative category) in 2017. He has also contributed for local media--- The Observer Uganda and Monitor Publications---- as well as Thomson Reuters Foundation. Of recent, he has began writing for Xhinhua and The Christian Science Monitor. John is a member of Human Rights Network for Journalists (HRNJ) in Uganda. He holds a bachelor's degree o=in English and Literature (Double Major).
